OMAC Announces Brand-New Scholarship Opportunity

July 31, 2021

One year ago today, the packaging automation industry lost one of it’s most influential figures, John Andrew Kowal. To celebrate his life and tremendous influence on the industry and OMAC, The Organization for Machine Automation and Control, OMAC is honored to announce a scholarship in his honor: the John A. Kowal Memorial Scholarship! Over the past two decades, John Kowal has made numerous contributions such as authoring a book on PC vs PLC control, evangelizing the potential for servo control for the packaging machinery industry, and being instrumental in propelling OMAC into the packaging community. This scholarship is being offered in his memory by the organization he helped build.

The scholarship will be awarded during the OMAC General Session at PACK EXPO Las Vegas (PELV), taking place Sept. 27–29, 2021 in Las Vegas, beginning at 10 AM on the 28th. The scholarship winner is encouraged to attend the General Session to receive the award in person, but it is not required.

The $5,000 Scholarship is being offered to any third- or fourth-year student majoring in electrical engineering, automation or related study. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021. Full details on the scholarship’s application, qualifications and requirements are available online.
